How To Prepare For A Marine Survey

Marine Surveys by Douglass Marine LLC, Keith L. Douglass, SAMS® AMS®, Islamorada, Florida, USA Time and additional expense can be saved by preparing the vessel for inspection and making her more accessible. Arrange to present a clean, orderly boat, and have all papers and miscellaneous gear ready. If applicable, you will need to make arrangements with the marina to haul the vessel for bottom inspection, and retain a captain for a trial run. Lockers and cabin areas should be cleared of all miscellaneous gear.

For pre-purchase inspections, the client (prospective buyer) should obtain permission for the surveyors to board the vessel and provide written verification by signing the vessel Boarding Agreement/Contract and forward electronically to the surveyor(s) prior to the inspection
